At the time of writing this article, Carlisle United is the only club of the English League Two that has not sustained a single league defeat as they have secured 6 triumphs and 7 draws out of their opening 13 matches of the current season.

The latest league match of Carlisle United was against Hartlepool United in a match that was played on October 15 and resulted with Carlisle edging out a victory with a final scoreboard of 3-2.

This victory over Hartlepool United was especially meaningful for Keith Curle and his squad due to the fact that they had to compete with only 10 players in the pitch for almost the entirety of the 2nd half and Carlisle United still managed to come out on top with the triumph despite having fewer players in the pitch which shows just how impressively they have been performing in this season.

Carlisle United came close to causing an upset in the second round of the EFL cup, as his team lost to Derby County only on penalties.

The penalty shootout was lengthy by any standards and the Championship outfit only edged it with a 14-13 win. The shootout was also highly controversial since the referee allowed Derby County’s Bradley Johnson to take a penalty despite the player having completed his role in the game. Darren Bent scored the opening goal for Derby in the second half and it looked like they were heading for a comfortable victory before Mike Jones came up with a very late equaliser for the away team.

This took the game into extra time where the two teams struggled to make much of a difference. As penalty shootouts were the norm to decide games that were still remains even after 120 minutes of action, fans prepared for a potential quick shootout as is the norm in most circumstances. However, fans were in for a shock when both teams carried on without facing any penalties. When the full complement of 11 players had been used, the game was still undecided. Derby, though, did not elect to use Johnson for any of the penalties and Keith Curle claimed that he was disappointed with the decision of the referee to allow this to happen.

The head coach of Carlisle United, Keith Curle is believed interested in signing the 32 year old English attacker JaboIbehre who was released by Colchester United on May of 2015.

Ever since JaboIbehre turned into a free agent, he has been linked with a number of clubs that are rumored to be interested in signing the English forward.

The player himself admitted in saying that he doesn’t know what his future will be and which club he is going to join but Ibehre is happy about that as it’s a new challenge which is awaiting him.

“I like challenging myself and that’s one of the things I like about football. As long as everything is right for me and the ambitions are correct, then I’ll consider it.” JaboIbehre said as he said that his future remains undecided at this point in time.

Ibehre has managed to score 93 goals out of 519 appearances from his entire playing career.

JaboIbehre is still in the process of being signed by Carlisle United but they have already made a move in this summer as Keith Curle managed to secure the services of the 22 year old defender David Akitson.

David Akitson was given the chance to join Carlisle United on a permanent deal after the young player had already performed with the English club on a loan deal during the previous season. Continue reading 'Carlisle United is interested in signing the free agent JaboIbehre'»

Carlisle United starting to look good this March

After a string of losses in February, the month of March is starting to look much better for Carlisle United. The team managed their second victory of the month in the 2-0 success over Northampton Town.

Both goals came in the second half for Carlisle as they achieved this unlikely away victory to move themselves three points clear of the drop zone. Jason Kennedy opened the scoring after 69 minutes but it was the goal from Kyle Dempsey – after just two minutes – that made the game safe for the away team. Northampton were not exactly in the middle of a great run of form, but Carlisle were awake in order to take advantage of it.

Northampton have had just two wins in the last five matches, as the players appear to be losing concentration of the play-off places. Manager Keith Curle of Carlisle says that the team came into the match with intense concentration and preparation and it has paid rich dividends. Carlisle maybe looking for more points – but this time at home – when they take on yet another team in the mid-table next week. Morecambe are the visitors to Brunton Park next week. Carlisle will be hoping to continue their good run of form. Continue reading 'Carlisle United starting to look good this March'»
