Carlisle United have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Liam Noble from Sunderland. Liam Noble arrives from the north-east on a free transfer and has a wealth of experience having played in the lower leagues on two different loan spells.

Liam Noble has scored just shy of 10 goals in 50 appearances for Carlisle United. Martin O’Neill has been making a number of changes to the Sunderland team including the reserves as well. James McLean, who was laying in the reserves up until now, has found himself as a first-team regular in the last few weeks.

Such has been the impression Martin O’Neill has been making at the Stadium of light. Liam Noble made his debut as a professional football player at Carlisle and he is confident that he will feel at home at Carlisle United. Despite being only 20 years of age, Liam Noble has already lifted the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in his first season with Carlisle United. The club beat Brentford 1-0 in the final. Carlisle United are currently on a six match unbeaten run and Liam Noble has been one of the influential figures of the team. Hence, it comes as no surprise that Carlisle United have taken the decision to sign Liam Noble permanently.

“I feel wanted here. I’ve been either in or around the starting eleven here, the lads are great, the board and the staff are great, it was a no-brainer really,” Noble told BBC Radio Cumbria. Liam Noble came through the ranks at Sunderland, but has so far made no appearances for the Premier League team. He was part of the youth team that contained the likes of Jordan Henderson and Martyn Waghorn. It is a real coup for Carlisle United to be able to sign up 20-year-old player on a free transfer.
