AFC Wimbledon and Carlisle United are believed to be monitoring Kyle Jameson after Oldham Athletic announced that the defender will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of June. The South London Press understands that the 23-year-old, a centre-back by trade who can also feature at left-back and has more than 80 professional appearances to his name, could be an option for the Dons heading into their first season back in League Two since the 2015-16 campaign.

Jameson, who stands at 6ft tall and can also play in a back three, mainly operated as a left-sided centre-half for John Sheridan’s side towards the end of the season. He came through the ranks at Southport before signing with Chelsea as an 18-year-old in 2017. Jameson was snapped up by West Brom’s academy after leaving Stamford Bridge. During his time with the Baggies, Jameson captained the U23 side on several occasions and spent a season out on loan with National League side Barrow, where he featured 25 times and scored once for Ian Evatt’s side. Manchester United youngster Brandon Williams may still be on loan at Norwich and is not expected to return until the end of the season, but clubs are already queuing up to snap him up ahead of the forthcoming campaign. The arrival of Alex Telles from FC Porto last summer meant that Brandon would be having a tougher battle to play games at United, with Luke Shaw also in the competition for the left-back spot at Old Trafford. Southampton were the first side to show an interest in the young player but failure to meet up with the Red Devils’ demands meant that he would not be moving to the St Mary’s.
