League Two side Carlisle have confirmed the signing of Tom Parkes from Leyton Orient.

The defender agreed a two year deal with the Os after leaving his former club at the end of last season. The 25-year old plays dominantly in the centre half role. He featured in 44 games last season but Orient were relegated from the football league so he had to look elsewhere.

Current manager of Carlisle Keith Curle said that Parkes has the experience and that the player is hungry to achieve things. He praised the player’s communication skills as well.

“We’re all looking forward to working with him because we think he will have a positive impact on the group,” Curle added.

The player is a product of Leicester academy and has played in various sides that include Burton, Yeovil, and Bristol Rovers. He was on loan at the Rovers but the deal was made permanent in 2012 and he eventually became the skipper. He joined Orient last year but he was not able to keep them afloat.

He joins the recent players that have joined the club. Hallam Hope, 23, joined from Bury. He played 39 games last term, scoring five goals. In the previous year, he scored five goals too but in 25 matches. He reportedly agreed to a two year deal.

Curle is excited that he got the player after a long time chasing him. He said he has “probably chased Hallam more than [he has] ever chased anyone else [in his] whole life – ex-wife, ex-partner and current girlfriend inclided.”

Kelvin Etuhu, 29, also joined from Bury. He had spent three years at Bury before agreeing to a two year deal with Carlisle. He is expected to make contributions to the team from the midfield.
