The Carlisle United captain Paul Thirlwell has said that he is extremely disappointed with the 3-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Tranmere Rovers. A brilliant hat-trick scored by the Tranmere Rovers player Andy Robinson was enough to condemn Carlisle United to a very bad start to the season. The club began new season with a draw against Stevenage. As a result, they were hoping to get their first win of the season when they took on Tranmere Rovers at home. However, the Carlisle United fans were stunned by the brilliant performance of the Tranmere Rovers player Robinson, who scored a hat-trick in the match.

As a result of this defeat, Carlisle United now find themselves in the 21st position. After the match, the captain of the club, Paul Thirlwell, has said that he is extremely disappointed with the outcome of the match. He has also said that it is extremely disappointing to see an opposition player during a standing ovation by your own fans. The Carlisle United fans decided to applaud the opposition player Robinson following his brilliant hat-trick. However, Paul Thirlwell said that it was an applause that he deserved completely due to his brilliant skills in the match.

“It’s never nice, when you’re still out there, to hear one of their players getting a standing ovation. But he deserved it, because he was the class on the pitch. There are no positives to take from it, other than to say we were lucky they didn’t score more,” said the midfielder after the match. Carlisle United will have to quickly recover from this defeat otherwise they are in danger of letting their season ambitions slip away. The club will be facing the likes of Portsmouth and Ipswich town in the next couple of matches, which will be key to their ambitions this season.
