Carlisle United are closer to the prospect of securing the signature of former Everton player Danny Cadamarteri. Carlisle United will be hoping to achieve at least a play-off position next season. As a result, they have identified Huddersfield player Danny Cadamarteri as a key transfer target in the summer transfer window. Even though the club officials have not named the player, they are believed to be extremely close to securing his signature. The 32-year-old former Huddersfield player was released by the club at the end of last season. Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has been speaking extensively about his versatility and experience in the game.

If Danny Cadamarteri indeed it comes to the club, then he will become the second signing for Carlisle United in the summer. They recently completed the deal for defender Mike Edwards. The manager recently revealed that he has been talking with Danny Cadamarteri on many occasions now. It is understood that the two parties have agreed a deal verbally, with only paperwork remaining in the deal. Due to the departure of a number of key players at the end of last season, Carlisle United have a number of positions that appear significantly weak when compared with last season’s squad.

“He knows the game, has been around the game quite a bit, has got plenty of experience and is a good guy who fills the void we’ve not had for a while,” said the Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott when speaking about the possibility of bringing Danny Cadamarteri to the club. Tom Taiwo, Francois Zoko and Lubo Michalik are some of the players who have left the club at the end of last season. Meanwhile, it is also highly unlikely that JP McGovern will stay at the club when the season begins in August.
