Five of the football players from Carlisle United will be out of their contract by June. The club needs to make some decisions about them before the summer transfer window opens before the next season. Here are the five players from Carlisle whose contracts with the club will expire by June.

  • Stefan Scougall

This player signed for the side of League Two in January in 2019 from St. Johnstone, the Scottish outfit. He is also one of the former faces of the Under-21 group of Scotland. He is currently having an uncertain future in Brunton Park.

It is one thing for coaches to get sacked. That’s why they get hired in the first place. However, it is a whole new world to hear of a player being embarrassed in that same way. The modus operandi is to at most send the reject on a loan spell till his contract expires.


Not Derby County, unfortunately. The folks who run the show at that club seem to have their own special of “we don’t need you, get out” episode of bad blood between club and player.

England striker Callum Wilson sent a message of support to promising Carlisle United midfielder Josh Dixon, as per reports. Dixonis facing a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in training this week.

The 18-year-old first-year professional had only recently returned from a similar injury and is now facing another lay-off.Manager Steven Pressley confirmed the news today after the friendly draw with Chester.

Carlisle United released eight players in the past week with veteran defender Gary Liddle heading the list. The 32-year-old made over 100 appearances for the club and spent just over two seasons at Brunton Park.

Utilised mainly as a centre defender he also deputised in the defensive midfield position during his time at the club. Carlisle were disappointing this season finishing 11th place in League Two after coming close to promotion last season.

England international Harry Kane has urged his Tottenham Hotspur teammates to find another gear as they seek to remain alive in the title race. The north London giants had the opportunity to maintain their title charge with a fifth successive league win but that was not the case after Burnley surprised them with a 2-1 triumph at Turf Moor.

Following the defeat, Kane said that Spurs have always been considered as outsiders for the title but they can still overcome the deficit. He added that the club need to find another level to reach the top and that has been lacking over the past few seasons, he said: “It’s been like that for the whole season. People have been talking about us not being in it, then we would win a few games and we’d be there.
