ABBOTT PRAISES YOUNGSTERS

The Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has praised the youngsters are the club after they played an instrumental role in the 3-1 victory over Yeovil town during the weekend. Carlisle were coming into this match on the back of a form that has seen them go winless in the last five matches. This has also seen them slip closer to the relegation zone. As a result, the manager made a few changes to the first-team for the visit to Yeovil town. The introduction of youngsters like Mark Beck, Brad Potts, and Dave Symington made a significant difference in the match after they were instrumental in this victory.

The teenage striker Mark Beck opened the scoring in the 21st minute, while he doubled the advantage for Carlisle just after the first half. This incredible performance mean that Carlisle were able to play without much pressure for most of the match. The goal by Reid for Yeovil town in the second half was nothing more than a consolation after Garner scored in the 70th minute to give Carlisle United the comfort of a two-goal advantage going into the final minutes. After the match, the manager praised the quality of the three youngsters, while he wants to build on this success.

“The young players are a huge bonus for us. We’ve seen some big individual performances and that was important. We needed the win and now we want to build on it. Defensively we were much more solid, [goalkeeper] Adam [Collin] has been brave and he’s come for things, made his blocks and made his saves. I think the run Joe [Garner] is on shows why we wanted to keep him here,” said Abbott after the match. The club will now prepare for a tough home match against Bournemouth in the FA Cup.

HOWE SALUTES ABBOTT

The Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has said that he is a huge fan of the managerial method of the Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott. Bournemouth and Carlisle United will be playing against each other during this weekend. Speaking ahead of this match, the Bournemouth manager not only expressed his admiration for his counterpart, but also said that playing against Carlisle United will be a tough test for his players. Carlisle United will be coming into the match on the back of the confidence boosting 3-1 win over Oldham athletic in the midweek action. This victory helped Carlisle bring an end to the three match winless streak prior to it.

Now, Greg Abbott is expecting his players to kick on from this impressive and continue their climb up the table. This is one of the main reasons for Eddie Howe seeing this as a very tough match. One of the main areas where Bournemouth can get an advantage over Carlisle in a match will be goalscoring. Carlisle come into the match having not kept a clean sheet in the last four encounters, which will be something they will be looking to exploit. Bournemouth, themselves, have conceded a lot of goals in the last few matches.

“I have watched [Carlisle] a couple of times this season and they are a decent footballing team. I think Greg has always had the same philosophy and he sets up his teams in a good way, so it will be a tough test for us. Greg has done a really good job there down the years and he has made them very competitive. Regardless of who you are, it is a tough ground to visit and especially for us because it is such a long way,” said the Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe ahead of the match.

THIRLWELL LEFT DISAPPOINTED

The Carlisle United captain Paul Thirlwell has said that he is extremely disappointed with the 3-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Tranmere Rovers. A brilliant hat-trick scored by the Tranmere Rovers player Andy Robinson was enough to condemn Carlisle United to a very bad start to the season. The club began new season with a draw against Stevenage. As a result, they were hoping to get their first win of the season when they took on Tranmere Rovers at home. However, the Carlisle United fans were stunned by the brilliant performance of the Tranmere Rovers player Robinson, who scored a hat-trick in the match.

As a result of this defeat, Carlisle United now find themselves in the 21st position. After the match, the captain of the club, Paul Thirlwell, has said that he is extremely disappointed with the outcome of the match. He has also said that it is extremely disappointing to see an opposition player during a standing ovation by your own fans. The Carlisle United fans decided to applaud the opposition player Robinson following his brilliant hat-trick. However, Paul Thirlwell said that it was an applause that he deserved completely due to his brilliant skills in the match.

“It’s never nice, when you’re still out there, to hear one of their players getting a standing ovation. But he deserved it, because he was the class on the pitch. There are no positives to take from it, other than to say we were lucky they didn’t score more,” said the midfielder after the match. Carlisle United will have to quickly recover from this defeat otherwise they are in danger of letting their season ambitions slip away. The club will be facing the likes of Portsmouth and Ipswich town in the next couple of matches, which will be key to their ambitions this season.

ABBOTT SLAMS TACKLE

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has said that the challenge on the star midfielder Lee Miller is extremely crude and painful. Lee Miller was subject to a heavy tackle from Tansey in the 1-1 draw with Stevenage during the weekend. Lee Miller was returning to first-team action only recently, but it is expected that he will now face a long layoff as a result of this latest injury. The player suffered an injury in the 39th minute, but wanted to continue as long as possible. He was eventually withdrawn from the match in the 57th minute.

It is now expected that Lee Miller will be undergoing a major operation in his ankle in order to recover from the injury. As a result, there is every chance that the player could miss the rest of the season according to the manager Greg Abbott. Speaking after the match, Greg Abbott said that he is of no doubt that the opposition came into the tackle with a view of injuring him. He has also called as the tackle extremely painful and crude. This is not the first time Lee Miller has suffered a major injury after he has already broken leg back in 2011.

“I didn’t think it was innocuous – I thought it was a crude tackle, a really poor challenge from where I was. I thought he [Miller] nicked the ball away and [Tansey] has come and smashed him through, similar to the Ben Marshall one at Wembley. I thought it was an awful tackle. I think it was an accident but it still looked a bit untidy to me,” said Greg Abbott after the match. Meanwhile, the opposition manager failed to criticise his player by saying that it was not such a bad tackle as it is made by the Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott.

CARLISLE CLOSE IN ON CADAMARTERI

Carlisle United are closer to the prospect of securing the signature of former Everton player Danny Cadamarteri. Carlisle United will be hoping to achieve at least a play-off position next season. As a result, they have identified Huddersfield player Danny Cadamarteri as a key transfer target in the summer transfer window. Even though the club officials have not named the player, they are believed to be extremely close to securing his signature. The 32-year-old former Huddersfield player was released by the club at the end of last season. Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has been speaking extensively about his versatility and experience in the game.

If Danny Cadamarteri indeed it comes to the club, then he will become the second signing for Carlisle United in the summer. They recently completed the deal for defender Mike Edwards. The manager recently revealed that he has been talking with Danny Cadamarteri on many occasions now. It is understood that the two parties have agreed a deal verbally, with only paperwork remaining in the deal. Due to the departure of a number of key players at the end of last season, Carlisle United have a number of positions that appear significantly weak when compared with last season’s squad.

“He knows the game, has been around the game quite a bit, has got plenty of experience and is a good guy who fills the void we’ve not had for a while,” said the Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott when speaking about the possibility of bringing Danny Cadamarteri to the club. Tom Taiwo, Francois Zoko and Lubo Michalik are some of the players who have left the club at the end of last season. Meanwhile, it is also highly unlikely that JP McGovern will stay at the club when the season begins in August.

ABBOTT WANTS TWO

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has said that he needs only two more signings in the summer in order to make the team compete in the play-offs next season. Carlisle United narrowly missed out on the opportunity to play in the play-offs. They finished the season in the eighth position only four points behind Stevenage in the final play-offs position. Unlike some of the managers who have been demanding a lot of players in order to get into the top six, Greg Abbott has said that he needs only two more signings in the summer so that the club can challenge for the play-offs next season.

Greg Abbott has also expressed his confidence that the players like James Berrett, Tom Taiwo, Francois Zoko, Peter Murphy and Frank Simek, who have been influential for the club this season, will stay beyond this season as well. The club are looking at the possibility of tying them on new contracts, but there has been tremendous interest from clubs in the Championship. As a result, Greg Abbott has said that it will be more difficult to keep these players at the club than signing new ones in the summer. However, he is trying his level best in order to ensure that they remain Carlisle United players next season.

“The key is keeping that group together, the majority of it. If I can do that, I’ve got a really good summer to look forward to, because I only think we’ll need one or two. The key is keeping the group together and that’s going to be very, very difficult in the circumstances. A lot of the players want to stay here, because they enjoy working at the football club, they enjoy working with me and the rest of the staff,” Abbott said.
