Carlisle United head coach Chris Beech has moved swiftly to provide an update on two of the club’s key players as the season draws close to an end. Danny Devine and Joshua Kayode are the two players who he gave a full update on as fans have been waiting to get significant updates about the fitness of two of their best stars.

Danny Devine only returned from his injury lay-off and featured in the match against Barrow, while Joshua Kayode has been out for over a month with an injury. However, the manager has refused to rule out the possibility of Joshua returning to first-team action later this week as it seems like the star is close to making a return following the ankle injury he suffered a little over a month ago.

The player, who is on loan from Rotherham could mark his return to the first-team action later this week after he initially started light training sessions at the club’s training ground. His return could have been closer than it is currently if he had featured in the in-house practice match that the club organized in the past week, but his absence from that practice game means he may have to wait a little longer to come back to action.

Manager Beech said he personally assessed Joshua’s situation and carefully watched him as he ran across the pitch during warm-up sessions. He said he was eager to see the player complete the session for at least five minutes, and confirmed that even though he is not there yet, he is working so hard to regain full fitness.

Beech also said even though he missed the Barrow match, he could be available for selection against Newport County. On Danny Devine, Beech said he is excited that the midfielder is back in action and will look forward to trying to  keep him fit till the end of the season.
