Former Carlisle United striker Charlie Wyke has confirmed that he’s leaving English League One giants Sunderland this summer. Wyke revealed the news of his exit via Instagram. The former Carlisle United player has been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic in recent days having been previously touted as a possible addition to the Celtic squad ahead of the new season.

Wyke posted the news of his exit on his Instagram account as he thanked the Black Cats fans who have supported from the day he signed for the club. The ex-Carlisle United attacker then wished Sunderland and their fans well for the future.

Former Carlisle United player Reggie Lambe has completed his switch to non-league club Stowmarket Town, the player and the club have both confirmed. The player spent the entirety of the past football season on loan at the club after leaving Carlisle United at the end of the 2017/18 season and has confirmed that he will be staying put at the club after confirming his permanent switch. The 30-year-old has revealed that he has penned a fresh deal with the Isthmian League club and will spend the whole of the coming season playing for them.

Having joined Carlisle United and stayed with the club since the 2016/17 season, he spent a couple of years at the club and was a mainstay in their team before eventually leaving in 2018. He has since been with his current club since December of that year and after impressing, they have rewarded him with a new contract that will see him continue his footballing career for at least the next two years after which they will decide whether or not to offer him another extension.

Danny Devine only returned from his injury lay-off and featured in the match against Barrow, while Joshua Kayode has been out for over a month with an injury. However, the manager has refused to rule out the possibility of Joshua returning to first-team action later this week as it seems like the star is close to making a return following the ankle injury he suffered a little over a month ago.

Carlisle United suffered a big setback to their promotion push in League Two after they were beaten at Tranmere Rovers in the latest set of league games in the fourth tier of English football. Tranmere Rovers played hosts to Carlisle United in one of the matchday 14 clashes played on Tuesday night in League Two. In the end, Carlisle United were handed their fifth league defeat of the season after 14 games.


Tranmere Rovers and Carlisle United played out a goalless draw in an entertaining first 45 minutes that was only lacking in goals. The goal soon arrived at the start of the second half through winger Corey Blackett-Taylor. The Tranmere Rovers player was previously an England u-17 player. The 23-year-old scored the first and only goal of the game after six second half minutes to give his team all the three points on offer.

Carlisle United Looking for New Strength and Conditioning Coach

Carlisle United has advertised for a new strength and conditioning coach to work with their team. The Cumbria based English side competes in the 4th tier of the English Premier League.


The club started scouting for a new coach for the role following David Waldie’s departure to Mansfield last month. Greg Short is working with the club’s chief coach Chris Beech in the interim.
